An Ode

I wanted to pen down an ode for you,
In mismatched poetry, in unrhymed lines…
Inspired by a few thirsty souls in the flooded banks
Of the familiar river…
The coffee turned tepid
And in the crumpled napkin
Stashed between the cups of cappuccino and the cold coffee
I attempted to draw a few lines
And found that the lines reflected the ones in my palm….
A faint something in your slanting eyes,
Did I see a tear? Did I see a dream?
I looked away,
Wishing that I had never slept, and that I never awoke….
And with your touch the pain and the pleasure became one
Feeling your heart, when you said, that numbness was better…
And as the eyes blurred with the blinding feel,
It was hard to tell
The blue sky from the pain,
The serene heaven from the burning hell,
And the scorching sun from the calming rain……
